in the summer of '03 the szuplats purchased property
on 12 vacation lane.
found here will be details of putting a structure up
written mostly by erica and photographed a lot by ben,
however like most things in life there are exceptions....
for instance ben wrote that last useless sentence.
december 19 above is the current state of the clawed
feets from the tub
here erica is priming the window sill material (a keen
eye will also observe the nicely finished tub in the back ground).
we hope to begin installing these (the newly primed window sills
- remember) tomorrow the 20th of december. you might ask what
color are they going to paint the trim. well dont hold your breath,
we are now leaning towards awaiting spring to paint the trim,
as it is too cold for the paint.... or that is what we are told.
right now we are leaning towards a blue... there is however some
dissention in the ranks regarding the hue....also the negotiations
for a fridge are nearly completed and it should get unveiled early
next week, pending league approval.
december 20th
clayton and jen finished off the roof in the early
afternoon, yes, yes, yes!
erica in the a.m. doing roof support, here she is cuttin
the last of the caps.
these are the pieces that go over the ridge vent on
the peak of the roof.
carpenter extraordinaire-jim working on an idea of
bens.
we are thinking of someday having a chimney,
if you remember way back on like page 2 we even lost
a couple days
as the concrete wall guys forgot to put in the footing
for the chimney area.
chimneys however are rather expensive so in the meantime
we were just going to have
this ackward little ground level roofed area. well,
bens bright idea is to have a
little out door shed in the jutting out area. jim has
crafted it wonderfully!!
this day also saw an uncounted number of shingles go
up.
uncle dub returned for another go, as well as pete
and jen
so there are now two sides to the house with singles
on them
lastly, jim also hung our (ugly) front door (erica
will explain later -
sorry no pictures of the door yet). tonight however
is the first night that
the house should be relatively weather and intruder
proof!
coming soon the fridge!!!
quick pictorial summary of december 21

verbal description of above pictorial
1 we purchased one rather large, slightly used, mostly
stored fridge from sir robert opaluch. -thank you
2 we were guests of miss elanors firstest birthday
party- yip yip yipperee
3 we brought the fridge to the house, which looks wonderful
in the sun with its roof - bring on the weather!!!
4 we attended the marins holiday party much to nani
saunders surprise- holy cow!
5 and lastly several hours of the marins party can
make one pouty- and tired (yawn)
now for a couple of really funny things.... we found
this too everything: so we had to include it.....um and
were not sure this is um, even legal... so darby or/and his legal
staff, im sure, if you got to know us, you wouldnt want to, you
know um, sue us for copyright infringement or anything......
lastly erica called me (hi this is ben) the other day,
after we had put in a hard days roofin. during the conversation
she was apparently grooming herself (i know, hard to believe from
all the pictures preceeding this point) and found some roofin
material in her hair. she said "aw i think ive been walking
around all day with ashphalt in my hair." to which i replied.......
"its not my asphalt"
dec. 25 (merry xmas!) 26 & 27
siding continues

with appearances from kay!!!
nani!!!
and arlton!!!
of course, our diehards- peter, jen, clayton, jen,
stach, ben and erica- shingled and puttied to their heart's content
( or lament?)
with sustenance provided by peggy (dunking donuts)
and kim (pizza pizza!)
we can not say thank you enough!!! to everyone; we
are blessed this holiday season.
i think erica meant to put in this before-christmas
picture of the progress of the waterline coming up the street
progess... and she forgot.... so here it is- water is making its
way up the street.....
december 28th...state of vacation lane... with assorted
